Hi all,

I wonder if you can help atall?

I have recently taken over the running of our sendmail server and have a query about reverse DNS. I am using sendmail-8-13.1 and want to know whether it is setup to receive reverse DNS checks from outside? I am quite new to sendmail and have had a look round on the net with not much success. Sendmail config seems to be quite complex :)

Many thanks in advance for your help

Chris

Hi Chris,

You can do a reverse DNS test from AOL at http://postmaster.info.aol.com/tools/rdns.html.

Reverse DNS is down to your ISP to setup on the DNS servers that are authoritive for the IP range/block that your on.

If you speak to your ISP they should be able to add something like mail.mydomain.com as a reverse lookup for the IP address of the mailserver.

Hope this Helps.

I wish someone would just call me Sir, without adding 'Your making a scene'.

Rob
