Hello

I am setting up sendmail and getting the message "550 5.7.1 xxx@xxx.com relaying denied" from MS Outlook when trying to send an e-mail extrenally.

Internal e-mails are relayed just fine and inbound external e-mails are working just fine. What configuration should we be looking at? I added domain to relay domains file. I would like all domains on this server to be able to send mail from any remote location. Somewhere I read that I should use FEATURE(relay_entire_domain)Do I need to do this and if so where to I add it - sendmail.mc??

Thanks,

Hello,

I visisted links but still having the same problem. From a remote pc using outlook I can receive mail at sandy@mydomain.com but can not send mail from outlook as sandy. Must be something wrong with my files.

#access file
localhost.localdomain RELAY
127.0.0.1 RELAY
localhost RELAY
mailservers ip RELAY

#local-host-names
127.0.0.1
localhost
mydomain.com

#relay-domains
127.0.0.1
mailservers ip

I added sandy to trusted users file.
I would like to receive mail at info@mydomain.com also but thats another day.

Need a little more help.
Thanks

if you are using a router as a gateway you world have to put that ip in there too 192.168.1.1 i had that problem too and all i had to do was put the router ip in

u need to insert the IPs of all the clients into /etc/mail/access, and then remap your access file to your access.db file.. u can simply do this by typing "make" while in /etc/mail ...

u may restart sendmail after that, and it will be alright..

good luck..

Hi,

O.k the simple solution was to enter the ip of my remote pc into the access file. But I need a way to Authentic Roaming Users For SMTP Relaying Using POP. It seems rediculous to add every users ip to the access.db file. Is there another way for users on this mail server to send mail from a remote location. Some users may have dhcp connectivity.

I tried adding FEATURE(relay_entire_domain) to sendmail.mc
but that didn't make a difference. I don't see why you would need to add a domain to relay-domains file is you still need to add the hostname or ip to access file.

Looking for a solution.
thanks,sandy
