In the process listing on my server I see that some sendmail processes hang around for days, for example, the following have been in existence for 4 to 5 days:
root 5173 0.0 0.3 20212 14744 ? S Oct07 0:17 sendmail: qdp/p97Fh7a3021157 cvgmx4.convergys.com.: user open
root 7414 0.0 0.2 17160 11572 ? S Oct08 0:12 sendmail: qds/p97Bivdx011873 sears.com.: user open
root 11020 0.0 0.2 15832 10288 ? S Oct08 0:10 sendmail: qdb/p97FSWmx011873 bloglines.com.: user open
Is this normal? What causes this? What would be the best way to make sure they finish quickly? A config setting in sendmail.mc? Thanks for your help!
