I have an AIX 4.3.3 server which is used to send out emails. A new problem just started the other day where sendmail queues up all emails to a specific domain (@navy.mil). Such emails to that domain were flowing smothly up to that point. Now these messages haven't left the queue since this problem started.

I enabled syslogging and saw that the 'stat' for the problem domain is always "queued". When I send to other domains, they are sent immediately.

I have other servers which also send to the domain mentioned above and they don't have problems.

How can I troubleshoot this?

Thank you.

I'd start with nslookup from that server to navy.mil

# nslookup

> set type=MX
> navy.mil

should return a bunch of mail servers

you can also try (as root)
echo "test" |sendmail -v admin@any of the mail servers listed
