Sendmail or POP3 problem

I have a remote site that connects to my email server using pop3 over a 128kb line. The server is RedHat 7.0, sendmail 8.11.0.

Whenever there is a large (over 2meg) email, the person connecting receives a timeout error when receiving the email

Is this a sendmail problem, or a pop3 problem, and how do I diagnose/fix?

Thanks,

Once sendmail accepts the mail it stores it on the server. When a request comes in for the mail, POP3 handles it and sendmail knows nothing about it because it doesn't listen on that port. In the case of almost all pop3 servers there is little or nothing to configure so they either work or don't. Is there any chance this could be the client timing out or are you getting an error saying it's the server. If it is the server, what are you using? I use qpopper and never had a problem with it.
