I am having issues sending email from within our Win2K/Exc2K domain to a linx 7.3 server running sendmail within the same domain.
The sendmail server is listed in DNS, and anyone in our domain can ping and telnet to the box. However when we attempt to send mail to it (sendmail server), we get a NDR from the Exchange stating error #5.4.0 as the reason it cannot deliver the message. Other servers connect to this box without issue, and this box can connect to the Exchnage server to send/relay mail to users in the domain through the Exchange server.
When we tail log on the Linux box, it shows that it accepted the message, but it is relaying it on to the Exchange server. The results in the NDR being sent back to the sender. Our standard email address is "user@mycompany.com" and the Exc2K server is "host.mycompany.com". The address for the sendmail server is "user@host.mycompany.com".
What am I missing here? Our thought is that this should be a simple matter, but it looks like we are missing something and the question is what?
Thanks in advance,
Burntend
