Im using a dynamic IP name server service in this case no-ip.org I upgraded to the most recent version of slackware and now whenever I try to send mail from pine or any x client send mail is trying to fully quilify the localhost name to localhost.no-ip.org and of course someone is using that name for thier server so the mail sits in que unable to send. Question is how to change sendmail so it wont fully quilify localhost so it will get the correct 127.0.0.1 address. by changing the smtp host in pine to 127.0.0.1 it will send properly and will also send properly from any private network addresses 10.0.0 on the local private network

I can't figure out what you are asking. That should let you know how little this may help you. Sendmail can't just send mail out without a returnable address. You said you are using no-ip so I assume you have a domain name or you wouldn't have much reason to use them. No-ip should give you an ip that will point to your router. Your router should forward smtp and pop3 traffic to your mail server's network ip. This is the ip that sendmail needs. Since you just did an upgrade, check for a line in sendmail.mc that looks like this:
DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Port=smtp,Addr=127.0.0.1, Name=MTA')
If this line is there, sendmail will only accept mail from localhost . Comment this line out or change the ip from the loopback device to your local network ip. What type of connection do you have? If you have a cable connection, chances are you have a dynamic ip but it changes only every few months or longer. If this is the case, I would check out and see if this is a service you can use. You can point up to five zones (domains) to you ip and unlimited sub-domains including mail.yourdomain.com and chat.yourdomain.com and so on. You have complete control over your "A" and "MX" records and when you make changes, they take affect within seconds not days.
