Sendmail in AIX 5.1

When I send a message with the command "mail -v" or "sendmail -v" to a unknown host, in AIX 5.1, I havn't error message.
In AIX 4.3.3, in this situation I have the error message below :
Example :
mail -v abcd@abcd
Subject: test
sssss
.
Cc:
abcd@abcd... Host unknown (Name server: abcd: host not found)

In AIX 5.1, I have no error message.

Does anybody as a explanation ?

it simply places mail in spool and respective error will arrive in a moment (man mailrc or man mailer.conf comes in mind)
