hi all. apologies in advance for my lack of knowledge here, all i have to offer is good feedback
i've trawled the net, but thought i would try here first
I have inherited a hosted server running Sendmail 8.11.6. it has always handled emails sent to COMPANY.COM
at the start of the year, the ISP changed their MX records so that emails to COMPANY.CO.UK (which are never used, never have been) are now pointed at the server. the server has never known what to do with these mails, and it seemed to have been left like this - with the postmaster mailbox full of "553 5.3.5 mail loops back to me (MX problem?)" mails..
in the past week, COMPANY.CO.UK has been spammed heavily - to the point where there are about 100,000 files in the mqueue.
I have asked the ISP repeatedly to alter the COMPANY.CO.UK MX record, but they do not appear to have done this. shocking.
Is there anything I can do on the server-side? Effectively what I want is for Sendmail to say "i'm not doing anything with COMPANY.CO.UK emails whatsoever"..
thanks in advance
