Sendmail drop the POP connection

I installed the linux box within three months when I finished the installation I leave the senamail started and do not use it further (no connection for three months) until now. But when I configured the sendmail it talk to my clients that the server (sendmail) disconnected my connection sudennly, what has crashed in my box or it is a bug and I need to reinstall the system.

(This problem occurred in my another Linux Box too.)

I tried to restart the sendmail and the inetd super server service
