Hi
We currently use RS6000 AIX4.3.3.0 (ML 0) as our POP3 and SMTP server for our global enterprise (relay). It runs a DNS which is in the format xxx.domain.com. (The xxx defines our domain in our global domain) Our email addresses are in the format firstname.lastname@domain.com.
Currently, when an e-mail is sent to firstname.lastname@domain.com, our server relays it to our corporate server; they then decide who it’s for and send it on. (In the case where it’s to someone in our domain, corporate send it straight back) When we send an email to firstname.lastname@xxx.domain.com, our server resolves it locally and nothing gets sent to corporate.
What I would like, is when an email is sent in the format firstname.lastname@domain.com, for our server to know whether this person is part of our domain, if so deliver it directly to their inbox and not forward it to the US (as it does if we use the @xxx format); if its not part of our domain, send it on corporate.
I'm thinking this would have to do with sendmail.cf?
Anyone had any experience with this configuration and knows a simple method that isn't too resource hungry?
