Sendmail clear messages

hi,
i am using RH linux ES and i need to clear messages that have queued up for certain users. I saw that the messages for users are saved in /var/spool/mail folder. Is there a way to clear these messages withough screwing things up because isnt there a configuration email somewhere in these messages for the users?
