I know this is probably a basic question but how do I populate the sendmail.cf file? Mine is totally empty and everything seems to be running from /etc/mail/main.cf. I can send and receive mail from the box just find but am having problems pulling mail through IMAP tom Outlook.

Sendmail can be told to look for any configuration file (.cf) from the command line. At boot up, sendmail is called from a script. This is where the name of the .cf file is given. I don't know the path of the script since you seem to have an odd ball distro. As for the second part of your question, it sounds like you need to start or install a POP3/IMAP server.
