I have sendmal running on my RH server. My question is, how do I set it up with user accounts and whatnot? Also, since it will be servicing clients on the intranet, should I specify its private IP in their Email account properties? Thanks in Advance! Matt Wray

Your user accounts are your users in the /etc/passwd file.

You probably want to run a POP or IMAP server in addition to Sendmail. Sendmail only does SMTP.

Yes, you can specify the IP address, or its hostname, if your clients can resolve the name. It would be a good idea to run a local DNS server on your LAN.

Thanks, that is starting to make more sense to me now. Can RH be a POP server on the same box, or do I have to have 2 Servers for this? Matt Wray

You have to run it on the same box. There are several POP3 and IMAP4 daemons that you can choose from....

...or you can use the standard pop3 and imap package that ships with Red Hat
