OK, Here is the scenario.

I have a few Solaris Servers running sendmail they are relaying to the exchange server so sendmail can send me my daily logs everynight.

The problem i am seeing in the sendmail logs is email Is being passed through the sendmail server from the exchange server.

Here is a sample message from my sendmail log:

Jun 20 16:49:19 server_name sendmail[19477]: [ID 801593 mail.info] k5KLnJ019477: from=user_name, size=78, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<200606202149.k5KLnJ019477@server_name.company_name.com>, relay=root@localhost

Can anybody tell me why this is happening and how can i get this to stop?????

Thanks,

100MBS....

The most likely reason is that the exchange server is using the sendmail box as a smarthost. Another (fairly remote) possibility is that you are routing on traffic on port 25 through that server.

As to how you can go about fixing this (that is, if you even want to... surely there's a reason your traffic is being routed this way?) that's more of an Exchange question, and depends on how you have the machine configured. It'll either be in the SMTP virtual server properties, or the properties for an SMTP connector... or both.
