Hi,

I am newbie to admin the sendmail as my company using the sendmail in FreeBSD Unix. I have some questions and hope a professional guys to help me, thanks.

1. how to check the mail queue from sendmail, if the mail queue stud, what action should I take.
2. how to perform health check for sendmail
3. where can I find the log files, are all in /var/mail
4. what is different between mail.log and messages files in /var/mail.

First thing I think you should do is install WebMin,

to find the location of the mail queue , inspect results of the command: locate mqueue


the maillog keeps a record of what has transpired with sendmail activity, the amount of details depending on the log level defined in sendmail.
