What file do i modify to allow sendmail to acceptmail for multiple domains and store it for pop. I have already modified the local-host-domains file with no luck. I've also added in the domain in the relay-domains file.

The error i am receiving from my client is

554 5.0.0 MX list for (desired domain) points back to (current established domain) 554 5.3.5 Local configuration error

any ideas?

I've changed the sendmail.cw file to reflect the domains in local-host-names and have achieved limited success. I am now able to send and receive from mail.domain.com, but still unable to receive from domain.com. the MX records appear to be correct, however, something is still a up as to why i am unable to receive anything from the domain.com. Any help would still be greatly appriciated.

Hi,

can't remember the file name right now, but look in /etc/mail/ .. there must be a file where email addresses are going to be mapped to local users .. this was working when I configured sendmail for 2 domains ... just add the email addresses and map it to the username ...

./Alex

could this be an issue with the mx record for the domains pointing to the wrong place or or my windows domain interfering with sendmail receiving anything?

Look at the access file .... put the domains you want to relay for in there. Aleonhardt was correct, it's ususally int the /etc/mail dir.
domain1 RELAY
domain2 RELAY
hash the file to access.db and you'll be in be OK.
