Hi All,

I have redhat server 7.0 running sendmail 8.8.7, can't upgrade to the latest version, my server has several virtual domains and all these domains use the server for only receiving email (they use their ISP to send email).
How do I stop spammers from using my server.
Any help will be appreciated

create a firewall for your box that only your network can access your mail server or certain IP's

Youve got quite a few options.
1) as mentioned above you can setup your firewall to block smtp

2) you can deny relaying to all except desired ip's

3) the best method is to install/setup pop before smtp

It's easy to setup and get running.

This will permit sending only after checking a valid email accounts mail. At which point the connecting ip has a 30 min. window to send mail.

*the time is easily modified.

Works like a charm
