I installed sendmail and i try compiling the access db.

bash-2.03# makemap -v hash access < access
makemap: Need to recompile with -DNEWDB for hash support
bash-2.03#

First you need to edit or create /etc/mail/access. When you're finished, try this command:

makemap hash /etc/mail/access.db < /etc/mail/access

still giving me this

bash-2.03# makemap hash /etc/mail/access.db < /etc/mail/access
makemap: Need to recompile with -DNEWDB for hash support
bash-2.03#

What do i need to recompile as the error suggest?

You don't have "hash" database support built in. Type "makemap -l" to see what database types you can use. Most likely you'll be able to use "makemap dbm access < access"
