I have a new sendmail 8.1.3 (solaris 10) server, that must deliver mail but not listen for incoming mail. I created a sendmail.cf to forward mail to the relay. When I tried to send mail to myself within the same domain (ie) me@domain.com, it would fail. I learned I had to update the submit.cf file to specify the relay server, which I did and mail delivered fine. What I found was that local email (ie) user@host.domain.com or even to root, was not longer being delivered.

I need to have all root mail delivered locally and mail addresses to user@host.domain.com delivered locally, but all other mail sent to the relay server. I also need all addresses that have no domain appended (ie) mailuser, sent to the relay as mailuser@domain.com (not mailuser@host.domain.com). Right now they are trying to be delivered locally.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I was able to fix this problem with masquarading in the submit.mc file. I am still having problems with root mail trying to send to the relay. I have that problem described in another email but now with the masquarading, I get an error when I try to send mail to root

root: user address required

Thanks
