What we are trying to do is send variables from a flash swf or projector file to another file or application. The flash file and the "other" file are not within a web browser or on a server. This application would be installed on a client machine from cd-rom. Can this be accomplished w/o combining the flash file and other file within a shared application?

I take it you've just altered the 'wording' from your last post, thinking you were being ignored? If no-one posts it's either because they don't know or they're asleep/at-work/whatever.
Anyway, this might help you, it's what I mentioned in your other thread regarding writing to a text file on someone's pc using flash: thread250-41517 (there's a link to the actual thread within this one, I just don't have time to view it)
