Sending Sms using php

Hi all,
I have created a website and wanted to add the free sms feature. so as my members can send free text messages in uganda.
i tried to do research and found out u had to use an sms gateway's API. does any one know a free sms gateway that can can over african countries, Uganda especially.

also, is it possible for me to install an sms gateway on my host....?

sure. but that's nothing to do with a php and thus outside the scope of this forum. a 'consumer' gateway is either just a mobile phone/sim caddy hooked up to your server or an account with a network (like swisscom) or (more usually) a wholesaler like BruNet.
