I have procedure that i can generate individual word files from an access report, lets say the query brings 20 rows, so generating me 20 word files. Without the user having to input any file name etc, the code behind it does it for them.

But can this be done to a PDF file???

You can maybe look into a macro in your word document that will print on a PDF virtual printer.

I use a PDF writer to print my access reports on PDF directly, maybe another option for your code ?

Hope it helps !

hi

if you have a pdf writer installed (there are many to choose from, try a google search), then you can creaye pdf files just as if you were wrinting to a printer, no additional code needed

I do have PDFWriter installed.

I have tried some code before and if did not work. The issues that i was having was creating the file name that i wanted to generate.

I think another issue is that i'm using access 97....

Hi

First, set PDF writer as your default printer, either manualy via Windows, or via code (this is not easy in A97), but can be done.

Second read the literature for your PDF writer, ther will be a method to pass it a file name, usually via an ini file or a registry setting

My solution was similar to KeyReay's. I set it as the printer within the report. IE page set up, use specific printer.

Then, under control panel, set the printer settings for the pdf driver to write to a specific file, and not ask for user input.

Works fine for the application. Problem though is anytine you print to pdf with another app, it writes to the same file name and location with out any input!

Works though...
