sending Parameter

Hi, i have vb6.0 application, and im using Crystal 8.0 for my reports, im using as the report DataDource a command in a DataEnvironment, because i need to use UNION in my query, and i couldnt do it directly in the report, but does anybody know how to send a parameter??
i already tried to put:
where date= ?
in the query string, but it just ignores it, and it doesnt prompt me for anything.. does anybody know how to do it?? thank you very much!!

The syntax for using parameters in an SQL expression is {?ParameterName}

However, I haven't been able to get this to work with dates. Does anyone know if this is the correct way of handling dates in SQL expressions?
