Hi,

I am running sendmail 8.9.3 on a RH 6.2 box. I have valid IP. I am new to sendmail. I need to send mails out from the server from a specific user name. So far I am not able to do so. I have a valid IP for my the server. The server is in a DMZ.
My question is :

1. Do I need to have my username registeed with a ISP or something?
2. What are the changes I need to do with the sendmail config files.

I am deperate any help on this will be very very much appreciated.

Have you set up that specific user in sendmail? Because you have to set it up first because sendmail wont send any mail from a user that does not exist ,because that's spam.

You dont have to register the user on a isp or dns or anything only on your sendmail server. To my knoledge the ip address that your using has to be an ip given to you from a dns server or an isp. then to send mail and receive(smtp pop3)you use that ip address example"smpt 10.0.0.1"
"pop3 10.0.0.1"
If that doesnt help post another message and include the error that your receiving from sendmail and wich client your using like outlook express, pine etc.
