Hi there
I've asked about this before, but got a fairly feeble response. Here's my query:
I have two machines hooked up in a 'home - style' network - a machine in each office from card to card using a UTP cable. Running Windows 98SE.
I want to know is there any capabilities within Outlook Express/MS Outlook/MS Netmeeting for me to be able to send a "pop-up" type message from one PC to the other? This will save me tremendously in getting up and constantly walking through to the other office to deliver the same message verbally.
The answer I got is "Use Netmeeting", with no help on "HOW TO"
I need to know 'how to' do it - as I am clueless. I have tried everyhting I know 'how to'.
Thanking you in advance for a solution (if there is one)
Regards - Mike

I have not tried this but supposidly if you install net send messenger 1.1 on both win98 machines you it should allow you to use the net send command. Not installed with win98. Here is a link:

Once its installed on both pc's you should be able to go to the command prompt and type net send "computer name sending to" "your message" so for example to send to computerA net send computerA hello. Then a popup will show on computerA saying hello.

I have an easier method...

Use MS Messenger to do voice/text messaging. Or, use FireFly ( Simple to set-up, allows voice or text communications, and works great, and it's free! We use it to communicate with our European clients - saves us $2200 monthly in phone calls, and has a very small overhead.

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!
