We currently have Exchange 5.5, I wrote a simple little program that sends a email message to our nextel phones, but since it just sends it remotly to the smtp mail, and not through outlook, it will not work from our exchange server. (works from a couple other servers I've tried it on) Is there a feature that I can enable on the server that will let messages to be sent remotely (message forwarding or somthing like that) And if so, is there anyway to kinda secure this so average joe can use our servers to send spam?
Thank You

You can allow relaying on exchange, I wouldn't recommend it for this singular application though. I ran into this exact problem and kinda did a round-about fix of it, it can probably be done a better way but this has been working flawlessly for nearly three months now. What I did was create a new mailbox local to my domain, ie textphone@domain.com (make the account owner someone who has exchange admin rights) I then created a new custom recipient with an internet email address of the phone. Go back into the actual mailbox, under delivery options, check the box that says "alternate recipient" and specify the custom recipient address. Within your program specify the internal (local to your domain/site), exchange will recieve it as local and see the delivery option and send it out to the smtp address specified in the custom recipient. I would also recommend hiding the mailbox so you don't get any unwarranted emails.

Hope this helps,
Kevin

The program I wrote actualy has multiple phones programed into it, for a quick click and send ability. I havn't tried what you suggested, but if I read it correctly, it seems as though I'll need to setup on for each phone number? Sorry just wana know b4 I start messing with stuff.
