We are trying to send mail out of programs on our rs6000 using aix. We are at Version 4.3.3 and can send to name servers we can ping but can't to name servers that we can't ping. On version 3.2 it was a matter of changing the sendmail.cf line where it had # OK MX by removing the # so it wouldn't check for a name server but we don't have something simular on our current version so whenever we send mail we get it returned with the following message ---"550 emailaddress@nameserver.net... Host unknown (Name server: nameserver.net: Host was not found)"

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Have you contacted I-mail customer support? There pretty good. Glen A. Johnson

I am using Imail ver 6.04 on Windows 2000. I can now receive emails and send to any virtual host on the imail server but not to external mail addresses (e.g yahoo.com ). Is there a problem with the DNS.

Any suggestions

I restarted the mail server and I'm able to send mails out but I have to do it everyday. The previous mail administrator did not specify the limit for each account. Could it be due to this?
