sending mail with solaris

I have beeen trying to send mail with solaris for some time now.I havae ben using the mailx scenario. I can,t seem to know how to get the the mail sent.....I have tried "." but i don't get "your mail has been sent ! What should I do ?

R u trying to send mail to a solaris user only or to a
mail client on windows??
