sending form answers through email

I am making a email us form. I took the orginal form and copied and pasted it in Dreamweaver and added a background to it. The thing is though when I tested it on my ftp sever it won't email. The originl page used Front Page extensions. Both are on the same server except that the new page is in a folder. Does anyone have any answers or can give me help developing a new form that uses cgi coding.
