Hello

I want to send the file as attachment. But when I issue
the command

mailx -s "subject" email@address < file

It goes as in line text

I am using Solaris 7

Thanks

Sharad

Hey,
I too wanted to send the file as attachment but instead found that it sends the file as text message from the file.
I don't think there is another way around but if anyone knows ,then please post it here.

mailx does not have MIME or any way to make attachments. It is still possible to make attachments.
Use the following command sequence to accomplish a binary
attachment to mailx.

# uuencode binfile binfile > binfile.uu
# mailx -s "subject" recipient < binfile.uu

Also, more than one uu file can be prepared and appended to the message.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Carlos Almeida,

Thanks a lot

I could send the file as an attachment by uuencode
command.
