Is it possible to send a *.pdf file from a computer to a fax number?

Hi Dik:

You should be able to accomplish this - I'm assuming that you have a modem and would like to utilize that? Here is a link that has some open source suggestions that you might want to try: https://sourceforge.net/directory/fax/windows/

I use Faxage for my fax service. It's $3.95 a month and they have our fax number. We receive faxes by email and can send faxes the same way. Pretty slick!

If you have the modem and analog line you can use Microsoft Fax and Scan which is installed on windows pc by default.

Phone line is digital... android...I don't have a fax-modem, but will purchase one as needed.

You need a fax service then.

And I am going to correct myself. Microsoft Fax and Scan has to be added to the OS. I had forgotten I had to do that when testing fax lines.

Unless you have a good quality analog phone line from the central office, faxing typically has difficulty these days. I had to order one from the CO for our I.T. department for modem access to routers in case the network went down. We couldn't even use analog lines from our legacy AT&T switch because the T1s are now SIP, converted to 4 wire PRIs. Faxing could and sometimes did work, but not reliably and it was common to have trouble. We have a couple of different efax services that are HIPPA compliant, which is good because much of the faxing is done for medical documents.
