I am having trouble sending email threw my new Exchange 2007 server. I can receive emails threw Outlook 2003. Do I have to setup an external DNS settings like the old Exchange 2003. How do I set that up if I do and is there anything else I have to setup to get this working correctly? I did setup a new hub transport and added the domain name in there. Any help would be appreciated.

What do you have in place in your infrastructure so far? Seems like you aren't very familiar with the basics. Here are some of them, but you need to find a good walkthrough.

- External DNS: MX and A record (use the console at whoever hosts the DNS for your domain)
- Your ISP: Reverse DNS record and remove outbound port 25 blocking (call your ISP)
- Your server: Check on your Send Connector and make sure it exists. For receiving external mail, make sure that Anonymous access is allowed to your Default Receive Connector unless you have your inbound mail hitting another host first.

I'll add that in addition to Dave's last comment, the default SEND connector is NOT configured for inbound Internet email. That's left to the Edge Transport server.

You'll have to grant anonymous access to that connector.

You also have to make sure your firewall is forwarding the traffic properly. Recommended is to a hygiene solution in the perimeter, such as Edge Transport, and from there to your Hub Transport. Also recommended to have a reverse proxy solution such as ISA in the perimeter to handle port 80 and 443 traffic.
