Sending email using Lotus Notes

We are using Informatica version 6.1 and would like to use the built in email funtionality for notification of failures, etc. I see in the manual that if the server is Windows based (which ours is) that we need to use Outlook. However, we use Lotus Notes and I'm wondering if there is a way to configure it to work with Lotus Notes? Or perhaps a more recent version works with Lotus Notes?

Any information would be appreciated!
