All i need is to send email from my RHEL3 box to my email account.
I have a hostmail, yahoo, and gmail account.
I have tried sending email to all of these accounts and getting a number of errors ranging from bounced to authentication needed.
What is the quickest and fastest way to send email using the "mail" command.

echo "this is your mail message body " | mail -s "your message's subject" email@gmail.com

THis should get you started.

If I could have sex each time I reboot my server, I would definitely prefer Windoz over Linux!

im ok with the mail command its more how you configure postfix to send email via one of my mail host relays.

Are you saying you want to relay mail through yahoo or gmail? That can't be done because it would allow spam to run amuck. If you do not have your own server setup, then you will need to relay through a friends server or your isp's server which would be a 'smarthost'. I'm not sure if this is a sendmail specific term but I'm sure someone will set us wise.

Sorry for the misundertanding but your original post never refers to SMTP relaying through different host.

In this case I confirm that yahoo, gmail etc.. will NOT allow this practice, neither will do any correctly configured SMTP server.
Your ISP instead will certainly offer SMTP relay services as you and your IP are known to them; relaying mail is a delicate process and open relays are no longer allowed to prevent (or limit) spam.
Open relays, in fact, are generally blocked using DNS Black lists in sendmail, postfix and other MTAs.
