sending data within flash?

I am trying to set up my Flash application (which will be installed on the users PC) so when a user enters in their name and other variables this information will be sent to a txt data file within the applications directory. This information will then be used again at a later date when they execute the application. Is it possible to do this without using a browser or a webserver?

you might want to do a search for Supra, and check out a post he made in a thread way back in december, talked about writing to a file without being on the net.

I'm not on my own pc at the minute but I'll have a look for it later if you don't repost.
