We are thinking of giving our Mobile Service Technicians wireless Internet-ready laptops, and turning our paper invoices into Excel Invoices.

How or what is the best way to have them submit the invoice with customer credit card info SECURELY to our office Server? Should I call our Internet Provider or our T-1 Provider, our our local Computer company? Or can we do it ourselves?

I know that those who create credit card processing software have to follow the rules set by Visa called CISP. Here is a link to their site. You should encrypt the card numbers for storage and transit on those laptops, wireless laptops are easy prey when used in public and if it where to be lost or stolen. Plus the CISP rules require this of retail and restaruant software packages.
If you haven't noticed, but when you get your credit card receipt back at the store, it doesn't show your full card number. That is one of the rules set by CISP.
