Sender Domain Must Exist error message

We are running Sendmail for NT. Our is attached to the internet via T1. We use internal IP addresses (they are NOT the reserved internal addresses, I did not set this up).
Our mail server will run for several days, then acts likes it looses DNS and we get the error message "Sender Domain Must Exist". Any clues?
