Is there a way to program a button which will allow the user to leave a message directly into an ext. users mail box without first ringing their set?

This can be done on Nortel by programming a Send Message button and entering the ext. number. The caller hears the voice mail message right away and can leave a message or memo without ringing the ext.

Can this be donw with Partner? If so how?

No, you can only send an OUTSIDE caller directly into a mailbox. Some voice mails allow you to log into your OWN mailbox, then option 1 is to send a message to another mailbox on the system. You may be able to set up an extension number to be answer by an auto attendant, and have selector codes that do mailbox transfers, but again, it depends on which voice mail you are using.
