Hi friends,

Iam C.Vinoth Chandar here.

Actually i own a ringtone website where i give ringtone codes for download for free and my site has been a bumper hit and iam getting many visitors these days.

Now i have planned to send ringtones through sms from my website.I know many sms gateways and sms components to do that where we have to by sms credits or buy the component. But i dont want to do that way.

I want to use my computer as the sms server. I have a 3210 phone device and a data cable which is connected to my serial port.

i accept that 3210 does not have a standard GSM modem with it. Can you suggest me any other phone as an alternative which has a gsm modem ? or do you suggest GSM modem is the best solution ? Iam ready to buy a GSM modem. Can you suggest the best GSM modem for my purpose ? And also while suggesting a modem ,can you kindly explain me how to do things with that ? Iam totally unfamiliar with GSM modems. Do i have to use a sim card for that to send my ringtones like i use for my phone ?

What i need is a VB application ( I know only VB )
which must connect to my website and check for ringtone or logo requests every one hour ( I need this kind of an application because i dont have a broadband connection but i have a stable 128 kbps dsl line. But still i dont want my application totally dependent on internet. My application must need internet only for a few mininutes every 1 hour to receive the request.By this way iam minimising the use of internet in my application. So even if my dsl connection has a problem i can use a dialup connection to connect to my website and receive the request. )

After the ringtone or logo requests are received , my application must send the ringtone or logo to the desired user 1 by 1 because the phone or gsm modem might hang due to multiple requests ( iam not sure about this ).

Kindly advice on my ideas and queries

Thanks everyone in advance.

C.Vinoth, have you found a way to do this? I, too, am interested in sending ringtones. How do the other guys do it?

Dude,

How are you guys making the ringtones? Please let me know if you are using any software to make ringtones from either mp3 or wav files. I found a couple of them at Also any information about which cell supports which format will help me.

Siemens has a strong modem that can help you out. I am unaware about the details, but you can get in touch with a local dealer and get the relevent information.

Awaiting your response on the queries asap.

Thanks
