Send mail from DTS

Hi All,

I need some help with DTS mail task.
All I have is an SMTP server name and an email address.


Is there a way to send email from a DTS with just the
SMTP server and the email address.


The mail task requires a MAPI client, what is an example of a MAPI client ?
It also needs a profile, where is the profile set ?

To use mapi you need an outlook profile on the SQL box that can connect to the exchange server
to use smtp take a look at xp_SMTPSendMail (Google it)

I use XP_SMTP on my sql boxes to report errors on my dts packages and it works like a charm every time. Unfortunatly it does work sending messages to my phone.... Nothing like a 3 AM wakeup
