Send key to window WITHOUT focus

Is it possible?
I can send keys to a window with focus fine.
I want to try it without giving the window focus.

Could it be done using the window handle for example?

I have been searching and haven't really found an answer either way.

Look into sending a windows message named WM_CHAR to the other window.
