Pretty straight forward procedure right? Open a user in AD, add an smtp address, have them log off then log back on, use the FROM field in outlook to send from alternate address.

Doesnt work although I swear it did at one point.

The user gets the following NDR:

"You do not have permission to send to this recipient"

Suggestions?

Create an IMAP connection to the alternate email address on the client side. The user will then have a new button appear in Outlook called Account near the Send button. This will let them choose from any of their IDs to send the message from.

Note: by default the IMAP virtual server is disabled in Exchange so you need to start it up.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark
