Hi there!

I've been silently using this forum for a while now and have found it an extremely useful resource. The time has come though, where I can't find an answer to a current question I have and I need to ask some experts.

I have a 3300 controller which is configured for voicemail to email. One of our auto-attendant mailboxes is filling up somehow and I've configured the mailbox to send voicemails to an email address. All of this appears to be working, but I cannot figure out how to send the existing 50+ messages to the email specified.

Is there a command I can use to purge out all the existing voicemail to email or am I out of luck on the existing 50 or so voicemails?

Thanks,
purploid

Hi,

I don't know what software version you ar using, but you should have the Advanced Voicemail license. In the latest sofware version (MCD 5.0 or higher) this license is standard. There no command, so you must configure the "Voicemail to Email" option.
From the help file of the 3300:

Programming

To enable the Forward to Email feature for the system, perform the following steps for each node in the network/cluster:

System Options form :
Enter the IP address of the default Email server in the "Email server" field.

VM Network Server : (For single-system configurations only; not required for networked voice mail.)
Enter the DNS name of the controller.

For each user, enable Forward to Email using the VM Mailboxes or User and Device Configuration form.

Make sure that your local Email server is set to accept Email from this node, and that attachments are allowed. See your Email server documentation for more information.

Notes:

When "Delete After Forwarding" is enabled, messages are only deleted after successful delivery to the destination Email server. The Message Waiting Indicator light turns on when the voice message is received in the voice mailbox, and turns off when the message is deleted from the voice mailbox.

When "Delete after Forwarding" is disabled, your telephone's message waiting indicator continues to flash even after the message is forwarded to Email. To ensure that your mailbox does not fill up (which prevents new messages from being left), periodically access your mailbox and discard unneeded messages.

Good luck.

Thanks MitelAppie. I've actually done all of that and confirmed that the email is making it to the intended destination with *new* voicemail.

The problem is the existing 50 or so messages that are left in the mailbox. Is there any way to send those off as emails or are we left to manually purge the mailbox? Just configuring the forwarding to email option did not send out any of the messages already in the mailbox but I can confirm that new messages are being received.

Forward them (via the TUI) to another mailbox that is configured to forward to email. If you're familiar with the filesystem, you might also be able to FTP into the controller and pull the raw audio file off the drive, though you'd probably have to convert the file format since it will be a .vox.

Thank you Lundah. That will probably work, however I think it might be simplest (after listening to a sample of the voicemails left in this mailbox) to have the users manually clean up the remainder. It will also preserve the timestamps on the messages, which is important considering this mailbox has apparently been filling up after having gone unchecked since the system was installed in late January!

For curiosity's sake, what would the commands be to forward the voicemails in the TUI?

Not sure if you said embedded or Nupoint. On the Nupoint its "give" to another mailbox so that is the 4 key. Can't remember if the embedded is the same.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

embedded its, play thye meassage then 4 to forward to another user or email. Works on saved messages here.
