Laptop. Windows XP OS. Office 2000 Pro. Exchange Server 5.5
No PST.

Sales guy has Exchange offline enabled, also has Internet Email. I'm not concerned with how to get access through firewall to Exchange server (though that would be nice).

All he needs is access (offline) to his Exchange Inbox, and to be able to send and receive mail on his Internet Account. All is OK except that Outlook sees him as offline, and won't send email out his existing dialup connection - it just sits in the OST outbox.

The reason I don't just give him a PST and change the Delivery options is that he also uses a desktop to access Exchange while in the office.

Please tell me how I can get the outbox to clear by sending through Dialup connection.

Thanks.

The way I see it you have a few options.

1. the Offline folder file (.OST) is not the same as a Personal Flder File (.PST) The OST file is just a copy of the mailbox on the server. So mail in the offline file is not removed from the server like it would be if you put the mail destination as a PST file.

2. If he just wants acess to his internet account and not his "company mail" account on the exchange server, why not just setup Outlook express for his personal internet email only. There is no reason you cannot have Outlook and Outlook express both running on the same computer accessing different mail.

Hope this helps,
Dana
