Is it possible to send a DID call across H323 voip trunks?

Site A is a BCM50 3.0 with a PRI and site B is a BCM50 6.0 with no C.O. trunks.

The customer wants a couple of their employees at site B to have DIDs.

Both sites are networked together with H323 voip trunks and site B can press "9" to get an outgoing PRI trunk from site A now.

I would have thought it was possible. Can the target line be changed do that it's redirected over to the other site. I think that you might need to enable the remote access packages to allow the different line pools to pass traffic through.

Thank you sir.

From what I've been able to gather, there seems to be two methods for routing DID calls across voip trunks.

Method 1:
In target line programming, redirect the target line originating at site A to site B via the destination site lead digit(s).
Program site B with a target line to receive the DID digits and assigned it to the appropriate set.

Method 2:
Remove the public received number from the target line at site A.
Configure the public received number as a destination code at site A and use the route comprised of your voip trunks.
Program site B with a target line to receive the DID digits and assign it to the appropriate set.

Does this sound correct? And which is the preferred method in your estimation?

Thanks in advance

Method one looks to be OK, but your problem will still be the trunk to trunk connection. I'm sure there is something in the remote access area that needs enabling.

Try and see if you can download the ITEL BCM training guides at

ftp://BCM_ITEL_Guides:BCM_ITEL_Guides@81.153.29.85

There is a folder "BCM50_V3_TBG_v1_1" and a file called "BCM50_V3_TBG_v1_1.zip"

These guides are very good and explain it well.

Thank you again FirebirdScrambler. I'll read the guides you sent me. Much appreciated.

It should work fine. It's been a while but I would make sure the receive digits are in the the Public Receive column of the Target line at site B. With BCM Monitor open you should see the Digits being sent out the VOIP trunks. Unless you have MCDN I am pretty confident you will have to put the receive digits in the Public Receive digit of the Target line. Then of course assign the TL to the Extension you want to ring.

Many thanks getsomesun1.

The only question mark I still have is this:

In site A target line programming, do I redirect the target line to a destination code pointed at site B?

I'll be back at the customer site next week and trying to get my ducks in a row beforehand.

In the site A system, I think you would have to add in the extension number for the site B system assuming that you are using a linked scheme, otherwise you may have to add in the access code first.

Thank you for your reply sir, but I'm not sure I understand.

Assuming the desired extension number at site B is 4221, would I define a destination code of 4221 in the site A system, set it to route over the voip line pool with an absorb length of 0, then redirect the target line to destination code 4221?

That method should in theory work, but you could also just have 42 added in as a destination code to allow any 42xx number to be dialed across to site "B" but the target line would still need 4221 in there.

Many thanks FirebirdScrambler.

I was at customer site A this morning. I redirected the target line to 4221 and it worked perfectly.

There was a destination code of 42A already set up in the site A system.

A star for your knowledge and generosity. [smile]
