Send data in a mail using trigger

Hi,

I have a question. First let me tell you that I am a newbe in this matter, but I'll try to make things clear anyway.
People asked me to send certain data to them (in a mail) at the moment a field in a table changes. This mail should contain certain data on what exactly has changed on that record. To my humble opinion, I was looking at the technique of doing this with a trigger. Well, lots of people wrote tons of stuff, but I couldn't find anything onmy subject.

Please help... This would be very appreciated.
