Using version 7.0 rev 725 on NT4 server, Service Pack 5. I get a 'semaphore time-out' fault when trying to restore from anywhere but the start of a tape. Today, I also got the problem when trying to catalogue a tape. Drive is a Surestore DAT24, and I'm using 125 metre DDS3 tapes. Grateful for any help. [sig][/sig]

Check your driver for your tape drive. Is it the Seagate Software, the HP, or the Microsoft standard 4mmdat.sys? Go for the Seagate Software one first, then the Hp, and finally MS. BE is not getting a response back from the drive in the expected time. Timing settings are in the tape driver.
Id also look to upgrade that BE. Its 3 years old. You can move up to 7.01 build 1616 for free from Veritas site. [sig][/sig]
