Hi all:
I tried this on the XP form and we all ran in to a wall.
I have about 50 PCs (Desktops and Laptops) all are XP SP2 in a W2K Domain, They are trying to connect to a mapped drive K: on a 2003 server.
Accessing the mapped drive is no problem, HOWEVER one specific folder in there takes about 2 minutes to open for 4 people out of the 50 users.
Also when it does open a new mapped drive is created using the last drive letter available (Usually Z). This mapped drive is a copy of the First mapped drive on the machine H:
I have verified that the problem is tied to the computer not the user, by having different people logon to the same problem machine. I have removed and rejoined the computer to the Domain but that did not help. I have removed and replaced the mapped drive and I have created a new folder and moved all the data over, none of this worked.
I am out of Ideas.
