Self Encrypting Drive

I have a customer that has sensitive data (health care info) on her laptop. Her Sony Vaio doesn't have a drive password feature as shipped. I suggested moving to a self-encrypting drive instead of using something like TrueCrypt (for better performance).

So, I could clone her drive over to something like this:

But this document talks about enterprise level support and all I want is the feature (like in some Dells) where you can't get past the hard drive password and the drive is encrypted at shut off.

Specifically this comment from that doc:
"If you do not require enterprise management of passwords and end-point encryption, consider using the ATA Security API by setting the drive’s password in BIOS."

Is my plan going to do it for me or am I missing something more simple that the VAIO might have. Can't give you model number or I would have.
